Digital Wedding Photography (simply) Explained

In the 1960's and ‘70's there were movie cameras, 16mm, 8 mm and then “Super 8", as children remember the bright movie lights that caused us to squint and hold our hands up?  Then how dad had to get out the screen and projector when the family wanted to view the event?

In the 1980's video cameras came on the market.  Now with the technology of camcorders there are no bright lights, no running to the camera store to buy reels of film and no more movie screens.

This same advancement is happening in the professional photography industry.

The professional digital cameras provide photographs that are superior to film cameras!  With a film camera a “bad” photograph was just that, bad.  Edit it out of the stack of proofs for you to see.  Digital photographs can be corrected, open eyes from a blink, remove distracting objects from the background and soften laugh lines and wrinkles.  (Adobe Photoshop is a great program!)

For a professional photographer, we like the digital cameras because:

                - they are lighter, easy to hold and control

                - better zoom qualities of the lens gives us greater creativity!

    - the digital cameras have lenses that are sharper, producing crisper images

    - the lenses are lighter, allowing the photographer to hold the camera steadier in low light conditions - making for more sensitive, emotional images

                - we can take more photographs without incurring film costs

    - cost of film: purchasing, shipping expenses to our location, shipping to the lab - insured, of course!  Processing costs of the lab, shipping costs (insured) back  from the labs, printing and adding labels to the back of each print

                - we can take more photographs without stopping to change film

                - we don’t have to carry around pockets of film

                - instant playback of an image confirms a perfect photograph

As a client you will like the images from a professional digital camera because:

    - you can look at the image to make sure you are happy with your expression, hair, etc.

                - you get MORE photographs!

                - faster, no shipping to the lab and waiting 3 to 4 weeks to see the results

                - you save the money from paying for film and developing!

    - you can have a CD-ROM of your photographs, make thumbnails of the images, make good quality color prints, send the files over the Web, and do  your own editing - print  enhancement.

    - you can copy your CD-ROM to immediately send to family, your bridal party and  friends.

    - have the new iPod, or a color PDA? Your images can go on a memory chip to show friends and co-workers.

    - your prints can be in full color, black & white, sepia, selenium, brush-stroke, colored  pencil, chalk & charcoal, film grain, graphic pen and anything else the Adobe Photoshop program can produce!

    - digital files, unlike negatives, will not fade.  If a print is damaged, with your set of files,  you make a new one.

    - “No grain”, we can make a print over 40" x 50" that is perfect!  35 mm film  cameras  make photos that look grainy after 8" x 10" prints.
